Tears as family of ODM politician die in tragic boat accident

Lamu residents are in mourning after family members of an ODM politicians perished in a boat accident. As reported by TUKO.co.ke earlier, ODM candidate for Lamu East Constituency seat in the just-concluded general election, Shekue Kahale was on Monday, August 14, rescued after a boat he was travelling in together with 11 members of his family capsized in Manda, Lamu County. The boat carrying the politician, his family and the captain disappeared in the expansive Indian Ocean just moments after leaving the off shores of Kizingitini Village on Sunday, August 13. A rescue mission was launched immediately and succeeded to save the politician and the captain of the vessel who are still in bad condition. As of the time of breaking news of the accident, only the two had been found. However, fresh reports from the ground have confirmed the worst. According to one of Shekue’s relative who has been at the scene since Sunday, August 13, the rescue team has managed to get eleven bodies.
