Riyadh – Minister of Islamic Affairs, Culture and Endowments of Djibouti Moumin Hassan Barreh revealed that he signed a cooperation protocol with Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Sheikh to frame religious work, correct ideas, prioritize and confront religious extremism and deviant ideas by means of advocacy, education and awareness.
Barreh, who is an official visit to Saudi Arabia, added that the next stage will witness more coordination and integration in mechanisms and means to absorb the outcomes of this sensitive stage experienced by the Islamic nation, noting that his visit to Saudi Arabia comes within the framework of distinguished relations between the two countries.
Barreh pointed out that he met with Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Mohammed Saleh bin Taher Bantan in Makkah on Friday and was briefed with the great efforts exerted by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to take care of pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors of the Holy Mosques.
He was also briefed on the new services launched by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah this year to facilitate the pilgrims’ performance of their rites smoothly and easily.
He stressed that the Ministry of Hajj and all the civil institutions working in the Hajj sector have been providing all facilities for Djiboutian pilgrims, who are estimated to be around 1,100 pilgrims.
In the cultural field, Barreh discussed with Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Awwad al-Awwad, in the latter’s office in Jeddah, means of boosting bilateral cooperation in this field.
Barreh also discussed with President of the Islamic Development Bank Dr. Bandar Hajjar the development of the Waqf sector in Djibouti to contribute to the process of construction and economic and social development.
The meeting tackled the residential and commercial complex project, which is funded by the Islamic Bank with $8.5 million and is comprised of residential buildings, a mall and other shops.
