Mogadishu (HOL) - At least 15 people have been killed in a suicide car bomb attack on a district headquarter office in Somalia’s capital on Tuesday.

Witnesses say an attacker in a milk delivery van as detonated his car outside the Wadajir district headquarters.
Captain Mohamed Hussein told the AP that the many people were badly injured on the scene and that the death toll was expected to rise. He quoted a local ambulance service in saying that that the most of the casualties were civilians, seven of whom were women.

Al Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack through militant affiliated websites such as Radio Andalus and Shahada News Agency.

Al Shabaab has waged a ‘holy war’ on Somalia’s internationally backed government in Mogadishu and regularly launches attacks on civilian and government installations throughout the city.

Last year, Al-Shabaab killed more than 4,200 people, surpassing Boko Haram in becoming the deadliest extremist group in Africa.
